Mobile most smuggled item into jail, January count reaches 18 with one more recovery
Ferozepur, February 1, 2020: During the search operation on the last day of the month, one more mobile has been recovered from prisoner Tejinder Singh, a prisoner. Mobile phones are one of the most smuggled items into prisons as they provide inmates with the ability to make and receive unauthorized phone calls, send the email.
During the month of January, 18 mobiles have been recovered during the various search operations including the one on the last day.
In most prisons, inmates are forbidden from possessing mobile phones due to their ability to communicate with the outside world and other security issues. Mobile phones are one of the most smuggled items into prisons.
As per the information, there is no follow up in the any of the mobile seized along with the SIM card with regard to the purpose of calling by the inmates especially when the STD facility for calling by the inmates for a specific time is available in the jail.
Giving this information, IO Dalip Kumar said, on the complaint of Sukhwnt Singh, Assistant Supdt., a case under Section 52-A of Prisons Act 1894 has been registered and further investigations are on.
He said, one mobile during the search operation on January 31 of Kachoda brand along with battery and SIM card has been recovered from the possession of the inmate Tejinder Singh.
