Patiala, December 3, 2019: In a letter addressed to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, PSEB Engineers' Association have highlighted the financial crisis being faced by PSPCL.
The letter states that the situation is so grave that PSPCL has not been able to disburse salaries and pension for the month of November.
“The primary cause of the present financial mess is the non-payment of subsidy by Punjab Govt. The total subsidy payable by Punjab Govt. including arrears was Rs. 14972 crore during 2019-20 to be paid in advance monthly instalments,” states the letter.
It further says that every month there has been default and till today the Punjab Govt. has to pay about Rs. 5500 crore. In addition to this, various departments of Punjab Govt. have a defaulting amount of about Rs. 2150 crore meaning that Punjab Govt requires to immediately pay about Rs 7650 crore to PSPCL.
