The environment in Syria torn by civil war that has been raging since March , 2011 is proving to be a litmus test of the commitment of the free media. According to Reporters Without Borders, Syria has become the deadliest country in the world for journalists as indicated by the 94 deaths of journalists reported since eruption of the conflict. The passionate and committed journalists who have been critical of the government and the Islamic State have been since been working under grave threats to their lives. They have been detained or executed for reporting objectively.
