Hi-tech services of World University alumnus benefiting millions of farmers

Department of Computer Science of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organized the webinar on “Entrepreneurship: Opportunities and Challenges”' through the Microsoft Team Application software. During the COVID-19 crisis the department leveraged its strengths by inviting its alumnus Er. Hamir Singh Mann, a postgraduate pass out to connect his experiences as an entrepreneur with the present students in order to bring insights about their future prospects. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pritpal Singh said that as Coronavirus outbreak has disturbed everything including the education sector and the University has been regularly using the online platforms for engaging with the students, researchers as well as faculty members for their academic and intellectual growth. He said that it is matter of immense pride that Er. Mann, an alumnus of the University and the resource person of the webinar is heading a company having a tie-up with the India’s largest Agriculture Youtube channel ‘Farming Leader’ that has more than 3.4 million farmers connected to it.
Presiding over the webinar Dr. Navdeep Kaur head of the department said that Er. Mann is the founder and presently the Director of VannTeq Farm Private Limited, a software company. She explained that the objective of the webinar is to motivate prospective and potential entrepreneurs and to create awareness about the setting up of small scale units of their own.
Er. Mann shared his experiences and the challenges he faced as an entrepreneur. He mentioned that the organization is consistently working on the ways of integrating technology into the field of farming. He shared that various ecommerce platforms like FarmBaba, Jareeb applications have been developed by his firm in the service of farmers. He further provided a young audience with the qualities that can lead to a successful entrepreneur.
