Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma warmly welcomed her and put forth that it is a moment of honor for us that the top-notch Nutritionist of the nation is amongst us. Our students will surely get influenced and take advantage of the guidelines advocated by her. She also added that she is the one who has spoken for the dishes of our grandmothers by telling their nutritional importance and follows the motto “Eat Local Think Global”.
During this COVID-19, the intake and importance of home-made food have increased even more and the insight of the expert is like a cherry on the cake.
Rujuta Diwekar too expressed her pleasure to be amongst the young students. On being asked by the various faculty members and students about the healthy diet, the solution of obesity, benefits of eating ghee and the right utensils should be used at home; Diwekar answered every question patiently and dedicatedly. She put forth that the ideal diet is very important for our health and in order to keep ourselves healthy in long run as well, we should begin our day with dry fruits followed by the proper breakfast. In summers one should intake beverages as sharbat or Lassi. The lunch should have all the necessary portions and at night one should eat light food only. She added that homemade ghee is the most beneficial and the distance from junk food and necessary exercise can keep obesity away from one. She also put forth that as our ancestors have always advocated iron and copper utensils, we should also use them.
She added in order to keep our children away from junk food permanently, it is important not only to cook healthy food but also to innovative and delicious food. She also advocated that males too should enter the kitchen and share some responsibility with the women of the house.
