Mohali, April 8, 2024: 866 students of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) 2024 have graduated from the Mohali and Hyderabad campuses of the Indian School of Business (ISB). The graduation ceremony was held today in Mohali and on Friday at the Hyderabad campus.
The chief guest at the ceremony in Hyderabad was SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch. The chief guest at the Mohali ceremony was Rukmini Banerjee, Chief Executive Officer of Pratham Education Foundation.
The ceremony also saw the conferment of degrees to 145 students who graduated from the Post Graduate Program in Management for Family Business (PGP MPhab), Advanced Management Program in Public Policy (AMPPP), Advanced Management Program for Healthcare (AMPH), and doctoral level Fellow Program in Management (FPM) and Executive Fellow Program in Management (EFPM).
Like every year, the graduating batch of PGP 2024 had a mixed group of engineering (49 per cent) and non-engineering (51 per cent) students with work experience ranging from two years to 24 years. 40 per cent of this batch were girls or female students.
This year, 394 companies registered for placements and extended 1,206 job offers. Many students received more than one offer. The foundation of this successful placement season was laid by nearly 350 pre-placement talks, leadership sessions, seminars, and workshops conducted by the companies.
This time, 71% of the students moved from one industry to another, moving beyond their current job profile, while 75% of the students changed their job. More than 20 companies extended more than 10 offers.
The top two recruiters at ISB were the consulting and technology sectors, which made more than 50 per cent of the offers. Companies also made big offers for product management, sales and business development, and digital marketing and transformation positions.
The recruiters also included global capability centres (GCCs) and mobility companies. Nearly 10 per cent of the offers were from the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector, while 25 international offers were made across geographies.
Accenture and Deloitte made triple-digit offers, while Nagarro, McKinsey and Navi Technologies recruited more than 20 students each.
Similarly, BCG, Ola, Merilytics, TVS Motor Company, Nykaa, Genpact, Unilever, and Reliance Industries were some of the other companies that reported double-digit hiring.
IDFC First Bank, India Sotheby's, Blenheim Chalcot India, Stride Ventures, Target, WEH Venture Partners, PI Investment Advisors, and Tata Steel made their first hires from here.
In his address, ISB Dean Madan Pillutla gave graduates two key pieces of advice: “First, use your privilege and blessings to serve those less fortunate. Inequities persist in our country, and you can help solve these issues. Second, get used to civil disagreement. Embrace different views with kindness and empathy.”
He added, “Graduation is also a time for self-reflection. Think about what success means to you in five, 10 or even more years. Many alumni attribute their transformation to their time at ISB, and I believe the same will be true for you.”
ISB also honoured students by awarding them for their academic excellence, extra-curricular activities, and exceptional leadership.
The Gold Medallist for the PGP Class of 2024 at both campuses was Nipun Bansal. Antara Choudhry was awarded the ISB-Parmeshwar Godrej Award, given to an outstanding student who demonstrates a deep commitment to social issues in the graduating PGP class.
