Chandigarh, February 16, 2017: Department of Punjabi of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh organized a talk on Importance of Mother Tongue on February 16th, 2017. The talk was organized with a purpose to rejuvenate the essence of the Culture and Heritage of Punjab, by promoting use of Panjabi and connecting the youth with the roots of their language.
Popular Punjabi Folk Singer Sukhminder Kaur Brar, President, World Punjabi Heritage and Cultural Advisor to Punjab CM, addressed the students and talked about the role of teachers and institutions to inculcating the value system in the students, which is being lost now-a-days under the sway of the overuse of Technology. Citing examples from Guru Granth Sahib, Brar also encouraged the need of purity in Language and to possess a sense of pride for the Punjabi Culture. Col (Retd.) J. S Bala, Secretary SES, Chandigarh welcomed and honored the Guest for the occasion and talked about the need of promoting the mother tongue at the Grass root level.
Pricipal of the college, Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi gave a formal vote of the thanks to the Guest for the Day and encouraged the use of Punjabi among the Students.
