Chandigarh, August 13, 2017: Proving their mettle among the teams from IIT’s and NIT’s, the engineering students of Chandigarh University Gharuan won top honors in the Robotic Championships during National Technical Fests organized by IIT Bombay & IIT Mandi. CU Team comprising of Mechatronics Engineering students Nitin Kumar, Suraj Tanvar, Sanjay Pal, Yogesh Kumar & Kaldon Kumar won 2nd position in the Robo-War Championship at EXODIA-2017, national level tech-fest of IIT-Mandi, while in yet another spectacular display of technical skills, University Team lead by Rishab Raj and comprising of Electrical and Electronics Communication Engineering students won 2nd position at E-Yantra Robotic Competition 2017 organized by MHRD, Government of India at the campus of IIT Bombay.
Team member of the winning team at IIT Mandi, Nitin Kumar said, “More than 10 teams from various engineering institutions all over India qualified for the final round but with our unique design of Robo “Younglinks” we were able to reach the finals of the Robo-War Championship 2017”. While participating for the first time, the student team from Chandigarh University won 2nd position at E-Yantra Robotic Competition 2017. More than 36,000 teams all over India participated in first round, out-of-which about 161 teams qualified for the next round. The top 6 teams which included team from Chandigarh University were invited to participate for the final round at IIT Bombay. In a keenly fought contest, IIT Bombay team managed to beat team from Chandigarh University with just fraction of seconds to top the rack event. Team CU bagged 2nd position by completing the race in 5.22 minutes, while IIT Bombay won the competition by finishing the arena in 4.49 minutes. Team members Rishab Raj, Milan, Om Singh and Gaurav have been offered internship at (Embedded Real Time Systems) ERTS Lab at IIT Bombay.
Applauding the efforts of students, Dr. R.S.Bawa said that “Research oriented practical training which leads to innovation is the teaching pedagogy that is being implemented and laid thrust upon at Chandigarh University as “Innovation is increasingly being seen as the currency of 21st century”. Chandigarh University always encourages the students to take part in such International and National competitions that add self-confidence and competition spirit in them, Dr. Bawa added.
