Panchkula September 19, 2017: Director Secondary Education, Haryana, Rajiv Rattan, today inaugurated Technology Enabled Financial Education in Schools – TEFES through EDUSAT – from his office at Panchkula, an indigenously designed satellite, which is exclusively devoted to the field of education.
The American India Foundation – AIF - is committed to catalyzing social and economic change in India and building a lasting bridge between the United States and India through high-impact interventions in education, livelihoods, public health, and leadership development with a particular emphasis on empowering girls and women to achieve gender equity.
AIF is associated with Department of School Education, Haryana since 2012 and implementing Digital Equalizer program to empower subject teachers and improve learning outcomes in schools.
Considering the critical need of developing 21st century skills in students, Department of Secondary Education, Haryana is taking several initiatives to bring innovation in education and Financial Literacy is one of them.
The American India Foundation with generous support from CITI Foundation collaborated with Education Department, Haryana to implement “Technology Enabled Financial Education in Schools (TEFES)” through EDUSAT during the academic session 2017-19 in Haryana.
Aligning with Government’s vision of “Financial Inclusion”, TEFES is an initiative to spread awareness about financial literacy among school students. Financial Literacy is a combination of financial knowledge, attitude, skills and behavior to make sound financial decision and ultimately achieving financial well-being. Financial literacy is expected to impart the ability to make ordinary individuals into informed and questioning users of financial services.
Rajiv Rattan, Director Secondary Education, Haryana, inaugurated the TEFES through EDUSAT program virtually (by cutting ribbon on computer) in presence of around 25 people including NGO partners and government officials.
Mrs. Mrinalika Dhapola (Operations Director, Digital Equalizer) shared the overall vision and objectives of the program with Director Secondary Education and other participants during the event.
