BATHINDA, MARCH 15, 2019: Mr. D. K. Tiwari, Principal Secretary, Technical Education and Industrial Training, Employment Generation and Training today visited Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda to review the ongoing Campus works. The university is being developed as Model University in the state by the Punjab Government.
Addressing MRSPTU Deans/Directors, senior officers and faculty, Mr. Tiwari said technical education played a vital role in human resource development of the country by creating skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of its people.
Mr. Tiwari said education should be modernised and brought in tune with the changing trends so as to generate maximum job avenues. He stressed on the need for inter-linking Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s), Government Polytechnic, Engineering Colleges and Technical Institutes so that they can cooperate with each other in areas of mutual interest, joint projects and to feed each other to achieve the admission targets.
While stressing on the need for creating excellence in Academic Research and Skill Development, Mr. Tiwari said technical education holds greater promises for National growth to prepare talented workforce needed by the modern world and to create entrepreneurship and a conducive environment for the pursuit of Technical Education in close cooperation with the Industry.
Mr. D. K. Tiwari, who is also Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University, reviewed the work-in-progress of University Campus.
The officials briefed the Principal Secretary that upcoming campus in three phases at an estimated cost of Rs.300 Crore will have a residential capacity of 3,000 students, the new buildings with aesthetic design and architecture. It will cover construction of administrative block, 6 academic blocks, central library, IT-enabled services centre, lecture theatre complex etc., they added.
The MRSPTU VC said the university was established in 2015 to give an impetus to technical education in Malwa region and focus on skill development, research and teachers’ training. He said MRSPTU had become the first technical university in Punjab to be registered under 12-B of the UGC Act 1956 making the institute eligible for the central assistance.
Assuring to provide a fillip to technical education in the state, Dr. Ishar highlighted University’s Academic Partnership with foreign Universities of USA, Canada, Russia, France and Memorandum of Understanding with renowned Industries.
Giving details, Dr Ishar said the university been offering more than 80 under graduate, post graduate and Skill development courses that include Engineering, Management, Sciences, Pharmacy and Food Technology etc.
Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology Department, Head, Dr. Ashish Baldi made a presentation on significant achievements and Research Projects of the University and various academic programmes, Effective Placement Mechanism, Administrative and Research Initiatives and Examination Reforms.
Thereafter, Mr. Tiwari also visited various departments of the University and Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology, where respective heads briefed him about latest labs and research projects in the department.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion include Registrar, Dr. Jasbir Singh Hundal, Campus Director and Dean Academic, Prof. Savina Bansal and heads of various departments of the varsity.
