Chandigarh, June 19, 2019: Chairman of Child Right Protection Commission asks the Punjab Education Department to resolve the issue of size/measurements of winter uniforms supplied to students.
Chairman has also directed the Education department to take immediate steps for providing proper room to pre-primary class students of Chandigarh Basti (Distt Fazilka) with reasonable amenities:
Two complaints filed by advocate H.C. Arora against education department came up for hearing today before the Chairman of Child Right Protection Commission, Punjab. The petitioner advocate H.C. Arora had raised the issue about large number of complaints by students of Government Schools in Punjab that the uniforms provided to them do not fit their size/measurements, as those have been stitched by some supplier on whole sale basis, in response to tenders floated at State level, to education department, and physical measurements of students were not taken before stitching such uniforms.
H.C.Arora said, Now the students are experiencing extreme hard ship as they are unable to get uniforms of their size and the representatives of education department stated that Education Secretary is personally looking into this issue, and that he is holding a meeting today also on this issue, and sought one week’s time to fully resolve this issue, as the task involved was stupendous.
In a separate complaint, Arora had raised the issue that there is no room ear marked for students of pre-primary class in Government Primary School, Chandigarh Basti (District-Fazilka), and they are sitting in a dilapidated room of a Suvidha Centre, which does not have even an electric fan.
Arora had even attached photographs of students sitting in a dilapidated room of Suvidha Center.
Taking the matter with utmost seriousness, the Chairman of Commission asked the representatives of education department to immediately resolve this issue also. The complaints would be listed for further hearing on a date to be fixed separately.
