Jalandhar, July 17, 2019: An exposure was provided to about 70 farmers on sustainable agriculture and organic farming at CT Group of Institutions, Maqsudan Campus. The key objective of organizing this seminar was to bring an awareness to get maximum profit by conserving the natural resources which are depleting day by day and also to grow crops organically on their field without using the chemical or synthetic fertilizers.
Exposure was given by Dr. Daljit Singh Gill, Project Officer at Centre of Excellence for Vegetables, Kartarpur. He focused on the approach to move the farmers towards sustainability and organic farming through different ways. As it is quite clear that the percentage of small farmers is 60-65% approx., so Dr. Daljit Singh Gill also gave a fine view to the small farmers present that how they can increase their productivity of crop, profitability and standard of living through sustainable agriculture and organic farming.
He said that if they have few acres (1-10 acres), they can take small area from the whole to do organic farming with other enterprises like poultry rearing, dairy etc. so that, if one enterprise gets in loss, the other enterprises bring more profit to them.
Dr. Jasdeep Kaur Dhami, Campus Director appreciated the presence of regional farmers and also thanked Dr. Daljit Singh Gill for this initiative for better improvement in Agriculture sector.
