Iraq executes 21 in a day, China & Iran still top____ The Iraq on Tuesday carried out 21 executions, including three women. Iraq has executed 91 people so far this year. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay earlier this year called for a halt to Iraq\\\'s executions, expressing concern that the country was carrying them out without transparency in court proceedings. A total of 14 people were put to death Feb 7, after 17 were executed Jan 31. However despite the mass execution Iraq is far behind then Iran where 156 death sentences passed and 360 executions carried out in 2011. Iranian public sources reveals 252 executions, thereof 5 women and 1 juvenile, were carried out during 2011. In 2011, Iran is on course for a record year in executions. In 2010 alone 253 people were executed, though an additional 300 people are also believed to have been killed in Iran. Interestingly, despite having highest per capita execution rate Iran is also lagging behind China which executes the highest number of people annually, In 2009, the Dui Hua Foundation estimated that 5,000 people were executed in China..by N.
