Police start investigation against Honey Singh for using lewd lyrics
Chandigarh, July 5: Popular rap singer Honey Singh who courted controversy for using lewd lyrics in his latest song “makhna” is likely to face action if he is found guilty after the police initiated an investigation against him on Friday.
Acting on a complaint filed by Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati, Punjab Director of Police directed Mohali SSP Harcharan Bhullar to investigate the matter.
Speaking to Babushahi, Bhullar said only after the investigation is completed and the report submitted further course of action will be decided.
In the song “makhna”, Honey Singh has used lyrics like “main hoon womaniser” (I am a womaniser).
Calling the song indecent and having a negative effect on the society and calling for a ban on it, Gulati had written to the DGP in this regard and requested that a criminal case be registered against the singer. She demanded that the police submit a status report in this regard by July 12.
Honey Singh is not new to controversies. In 2013, he was criticised for his song “main hoon balatkari” (I am a rapist).
