Honey Singh booked for using lewd lyrics in his song “makhna”
Mohali, July 9, 2019: Popular rap singer Honey Singh has been booked by the Mohali police for using lewd lyrics in his latest song “makhna”.
Speaking to Babushahi, SSP Mohali Harcharan Bhullar said a case under Sections 294 , 506 of the IPC, Section 67 of IT Act and Section 6 of The Indecent Representation of Woman (Prohibition) Act 1986, has been registered against the singer at the Matuar Police Station, Mohali. Bhushan Kumar, owner of music company T-Series, which recorded the song "makhna", has been made the co-accused in the case.
Earlier, Honey Singh had courted controversy for using lewd lyrics in his latest song “makhna”.
Acting on a complaint filed by Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati, Punjab Director General of Police directed Mohali SSP Harcharan Bhullar to investigate the matter.
In the song “makhna”, Honey Singh has used lyrics like “main hoon womaniser” (I am a womaniser).
Calling the song indecent and having a negative effect on the society, Gulati called for banning the song and had written to the DGP in this regard, requesting that a criminal case be registered against the singer.
Honey Singh is not new to controversies. In 2013, he was criticised for his song “main hoon balatkari” (I am a rapist).
