Lockdown propels ‘Markr.’ to etch a mark on young minds
Chandigarh, April 12, 2020: Two pass-outs from VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology), Aaftab Singh & Raghav Sharma, who once led the Model United Nations Society of their institute have conceived a novel concept to make their contribution towards the national fight against COVID-19 and, to weed out the negative thoughts and make the lockdown as productive as possible for the youth.
Their social venture, “Markr.” is organizing a series of 4 fundraising online workshops- Decrypting MUNs with Vaivab Das, a widely acclaimed personality in MUN circuit.In this series school and college students will be introduced to the concept of ‘Model United Nations’, while covering a wide array of elements ranging from Argumentation to Foreign Policy and much more. The fee, Rs 400, for attending the workshop is to be deposited in the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The first online workshop takes place on 19th April. Registrations across 12 states are already on their cards.
Aaftab Singh, one of the founders of Markr residing here said, ‘Markr was inherently born out of a realization of the need to give back. We continue to ride that wave in an attempt to best translate our input and energy to generate genuine, deep and long-lasting impact.’ He further added that debating is one of the most sought after skill in today’s world, where voicing one’s opinions in a coherent manner is not just appreciated but is also necessary.
