Mohali, April 16, 2020: Bir Devinder Singh has asked the state government to direct L&T Ltd. to resume the construction work on the 4-lanning-cum-elevated-highway project on Chandigarh-Kharar section immediately.
The former Deputy Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, and former MLA Kharar, said that as per the latest guide lines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs Govt. of India, L&T Ltd. may be directed to keep their infrastructure and manpower ready by April 20.
“This elevated-highway is a very important project which has been already delayed inordinately and now lying in the indeterminate state for quite some time, courtesy obtuse and stupid attitude of the state government towards the project,” Bir Devinder said.
“Since this highway connects state capital Chandigarh with other districts therefore the flow of traffic on this route is too heavy causing long haul traffic jams many a times in the day causing innumerable suffering and difficulties for the public particularly daily commuters on this particular section of road,” he said.
“I would appeal to the state government that because of lockdown and curfew restrictions there is hardly any traffic flow on this road and in the light of the recent guidelines of Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India, the work on this ongoing project must be resumed forthwith without any delay. The government and the minister for Public Works Department (PWD, B&R) should also pay some attention to Landran crossing on Kharar-Banur-Tepla road, if he has little time to heed to the public grievances. This crossing is a hotspot of unprecedented traffic congestion and frequent jamming of the traffic flow, putting the commuters to distress and agony,” he said.
“Both the issues highlighted in the larger public interests, deserve the immediate attention of the government and district administration,” He added.
