Fatehgarh Sahib. April.16, 2020: After the incident of protest and sloganing against the government by migrant labourers at Ludhiana and other parts of State, the district civil and police administration immediately swung into action and taking a precautionary measures DC Amrit Kaur Gill and SSP Amneet Kondal along with SDM Amloh and other officers visited the Asia’s biggest Industrial steel town Mandi Gobindgarh today and took the stock of the situation. Thousands of migrant labourers reside in Mandi Gobindgarh as there are approximately 400 iron and Steel manufacturing units along with other ancillary units. There have been reports of unrest in the town after the announcement of extension in curfew upto 3rd May.
It is worth mentioning that district administration have been successful in persuading the labour not to migrate to their state on the day curfew was imposed in State as they started walking on GT Road to rush to their States of UP and Bihar by providing them shelter and food, but the extension created panic among them moreover the industries have not started operation.
Dc and SSP said that taking precautionary measures they have deputed Rapid action force in Mandi Gobindgarh and adjoining Amloh town to control any situation. They said that SDm Amloh Anand Sagar Sharma is doing yeoman service by personally supervising the supply of food to the labour and they are fully satisfied and the administration is keeping close watch on the situation.
