Dr Dilbagh Singh enquiring about the health of a new-born baby at Primary Health Centre, Boothgarh
Mohali, April 17, 2020: Despite the ongoing curfew in the state, all OPDs at government health facilities in the SAS Nagar district are continuously providing health care to women and children.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Manjit Singh said that the district health department was continuously providing emergency and other essential medical services to the people so that the needy people of the district should not suffer any health problems.
The Civil Surgeon said that from March 20 to April 15, a total of 456 children were born in the public health institutes of the district out of which 245 were boys and 211 were girls.
He said that during this time 183, 103 and 97 children were born at District Hospital, Mohali, Sub-Divisional Hospital, Kharar and Derabassi, respectively, and the rest at Primary and Community Health Centers at Kurali, Banur, Dhakoli, Lahru, Boothgarh etc.
In addition, the general immunization of children at the sub-center level continues, he said.
Dr. Manjit Singh said that he was making sure that pregnant women and other serious patients coming to government hospitals for normal screening and maternity treatment should not face any problem.
He said that it was the endeavour of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to provide good and quality health services to the people even in this time of crisis.
He also appealed to the people to seek medical advice by contacting the health department's helpline number 104 instead of coming to the hospital in case if faced with minor issues.
Dr. Manjit Singh said that the rules of keeping essential distance from each other, wearing masks and sanitizing the buildings and rooms while providing health services in hospitals are also being followed.
He said that no one was being allowed to stand in a group at any place in the hospital in order to avoid coronavirus.
Dr. Manjit Singh lauded the doctors, nurses and other health workers serving in the hospitals and said that they were engaged in the service of the people with full dedication and hard work and were providing medical services day and night with full care regardless of the threat posed by coronavirus.
In addition to this, health personnel were also present in the field to help in preventing and eradicating this disease.
