Commissionerate Police registers 7 FIRs, 9 arrested

Jalandhar, April 17,2020: - Further tightening the noose around persons who were flouting the norms by not wearing the mask while going out of their home, in case of any urgency, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police today arrested nine persons by filing FIRs against such violators.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that in order to check the spread of Corona Virus in the state, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has made it mandatory for everyone to wear masks before stepping out of their home and with valid pass.
However, he said that Karan of Garden Colony, Divanshu, Manas of Model House, Davinder Singh of Jarham village, Hoshiarpur, Shiv Kumar of New Dashmesh Nagar, Harlakhbir Singh of Mithapur, Mandeep Kumar of Pholriwal for stepping outside without any valid pass besides Leeju of Garden Colony and Sham Bahadur of Jalandhar Cantonment was arrested for not wearing masks. The Commissioner of Police said that in total 243 traffic challans were issued today and 11 vehicles were impounded for violation of curfew norms.
He said that till date 295 FIRs have been registered in Jalandhar for violation of curfew norms adding that 295 people have been arrested for flouting of norms.
Mr. Bhullar said that 6167 traffic challans have been issued in Jalandhar so far and 480 vehicles have been impounded.
