Senior Advisor to CM reviews measures for wheat harvest and COVID-19 in district
Sri Muktsar Sahib, April 20, 2020: Lieutenant General-PVSM (retd), Senior Vice Chairman of GOG and Senior Advisor to Punjab CM T. S. Shergill today visited Muktsar wherein he interacted with GOGs (Guardians of Governance).
During the interaction he discussed about the preparedness and action taken to arrest the spread of COVID-19 and the ongoing wheat harvesting season in the district.
He stressed upon the need of hassle free procurement and said that the Guardians of Governance deployed by the Punjab Government in the villages are doing exemplary work of keeping a vigil over the activities of the district and police administration.
He said that this fatal virus is a challenge for us together we will emerge victorious in the end. “All we need to do now is support and respect each other in this hour of crisis,” Shergill said.
Expressing satisfaction over the functioning of the GOGs he said that now the process of filtering and getting information from the GOGs all over the state has been streamlined to a great extent.
Deputy Commissioner M. K. Aravind Kumar informed the Senior Advisor about the help extended by the GOGs across the villages amid crisis. He informed that the GOGs are playing an important role in urging masses to maintain social distance and follow other etiquettes to keep this virus at bay.
Earlier before entering the district administrative complex T. S. Shergill appreciated the installation of water tank with soap which is operated by foot. “He said that such techniques are the need of hour and modalities would be chalked out to provide such water tanks at all the public places so that people need not to touch the water tap and soap to wash their hands,” Shergill said.
Among others who were also present during the meeting were OSD to Senior Advisor of Chief Minister-Karanveer Singh, SSP Rajbachan Singh Sandhu and other senior officials of the district administration and police.
