No relaxation in Curfew norms in Jalandhar
30 containment zones to remain closed, decision regarding non containment zones of district today

Jalandhar, April 30 , 2020: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal have categorically said that there would be no relaxation in curfew within Jalandhar district and the final call on the issue would be taken today (April 30) evening.
The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police, who conducted flag march in the city, today said that the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had announced to give relaxation in the curfew norms in the non red zone/ containment zones. They said that as Jalandhar has around 30 containment zones in the district from where cases have come to fore, so no relaxation in curfew would be given in these areas. The officers said that decision regarding the relaxation in curfew norms in non containment zones would be taken on April 30 after consultation with the Health department, other stakeholders and after evolving foolproof security plan.
The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police said that they would be holding detailed deliberations regarding the security planning meticulously so that the announcements of by the Chief Minister were implemented in true letter and spirit. They said that as of now there was no relaxation of curfew in Jalandhar and fresh orders, if any, would be issued by April 30 evening. The officers said that as per the directions of the Chief Minister curfew has been extended would be extended in the city till May 17.
The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police further said that people should exercise self-restraint and desist from coming out of their houses in the curfew. They further said that no one should take law in their own by flouting the curfew norms else stern action would be taken against them. They said that curfew has been imposed for the welfare of the residents to save them from the scourge of Covid 19.
