Nawanshahr, May 06, 2020: District Police SBS Nagar has taken a lead to keep the whereabouts of the entrants to the district at Nakas by launching an online portal, S.T.O.P. COVID-19 (Surveillance of Travellers Online Portal) today. This portal would ensure that all the people entering the district from other state/district to be thoroughly checked upon medically too and their details to be filled electronically at one common platform.
Divulging the details, SSP Alka Meena while launching the portal, today evening said that the app would be helpful to remain vigilant about the persons having travel history of other states or districts. First of all, medical team deployed at Naka would medically examine the traveller and after that all the details of the entrant would be filled up in the tab, provided to each Naka. “The 14 inter district Nakas where this portal has been made functional with the help of tabs, would keep complete details of the person entering the district like, the place from which they started to their destination, their vehicle type and number, whether they are symptomatic or not and their place of quarantine (as identified by the district authorities).
She said that this app would make the monitoring of the persons entering the district very convenient as the entire data is available at one common platform and proactive steps can be taken in order to ensure that the person coming from outside the state is quarantined in the facility and his screening is done. “As soon as the data to be put in by the Naka party, we the police officers can access this on our mobiles on the other side within no time”, she added.
Since the inter-state movement of people has increased, it is most important to ensure that no person who enters the district remain unchecked and to be examined and quarantined appropriately to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the district, said SSP Alka Meena. This initiative will prove beneficial in proper documentation and surveillance, therefore helping in effective containment of COVID-19 in SBS Nagar district, she added.
At the time of launching of the software, she was accompanied by SP (D) Wazir Singh Khaira, DSPs Deepika Singh and Navneet Kaur Gill.
