EXPRESSES GRIEF OVER TRAGIC DEATH OF DEPOT HOLDER'S BROTHER ANIL MAHAJAN
CHANDIGARH, MAY 06, 2020: Punjab Food & Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has directed the police administration to ensure tight security arrangements during wheat distribution.
The directions were issued by the Minister in the wake of unfortunate incident in Kapurthala yesterday where a depot holder's brother Anil Mahajan was beaten to death while he was helping his brother in distributing wheat.
While people all over the world have locked up themselves inside their homes to save themselves, this tragic incident of killing someone who is distributing wheat to people is appalling, the Minister said.
To guard against any such incident in future, Ashu ordered administration to put in place stringent security arrangements. He also directed the health department to ensure adherence of all social distancing norms at the time of wheat distribution.
In addition, the Minister directed all DFSCs to ensure presence of Vigilance Committees and ensure social distancing and hand washing norms. Currently, the distribution of PMGKY is going on under which each NFSA entitlement is15 kgs wheat per person and 3 kg dal per family.
