Kapurthala, May 8, 2020: A kabaddi player was shot dead by a Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) after they had a fight over parking on Thursday night, reports The Hindustan Times.
According to police, the deceased, Arvindjit Singh, was returning from kabaddi ground in Lakhan Ke Padde village along with his four friends in a car at around 10.30 pm when they saw a car parked on the road side.
Seeing the windows of the car covered with cloth, Arvindjit and his friend Pardeep got out of the car and asked the people inside the car to come out.
ASI Paramjeet Singh, who was inside the car with his friend Mangu, got frightened and ran away. Arvindjit and Pardeep gave chase and caught up with him and an argument ensued which resulted in Paramjeet opening firing killing Arvindjit on the spot.
A case has been registered against Paramjeet, who has been suspended, and Mangu under Sections 302, 307 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Arms Act.
