New Delhi, May 09, 2020: Saluting the efforts of front line workers of Delhi Gurdwaras to provide services to mankind at ground level amid coronavirus threat, The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has provided insurance cover to its warrior in case of supreme sacrifice in saving and serving others while fighting the deadly Coronavirus said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today.
DSGMC has expressed their commitment to ensuring the well being of their employees by providing protective gear to its corona warriors who are facing the challenge and threat posed by the growing pandemic of COVID-19 the Corona Virus.
.DSCMC will provide an insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakh for all its 2500 front line workers who are providing services across National Capital in this critical time by providing Langar(free community meals) /sanitation, transport and other services at various locations in National Capital and extending helping hand and support to various Govt agencies engaged in the fight against coronavirus.
DSGMC is taking care of accommodation and food for around 200 doctors, nurses etc involved in treating COVID and
these workers have been providing all services like sanitation, food, accommodation and logistic support etc to front line Corona Warriors like doctors, the paramedical staff of various govt hospitals like AIIMS, RML, Safdarjung hospitals who are provided free accommodation at its Inns in Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj and Gurdwara Moti Bagh etc and distributing food and relief material etc at various locations like Jhuggi jhopri Colonies, labourers camp, Shelter Home etc as result of which they may have to be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and may be at risk of being impacted by this. It will include accidental loss of life on account of contracting COVID-19. said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today .
The Life insurance scheme would include sanitation staff, langar cooks, Raagis (religious preachers), security staff and other front line Gurdwara workers employed with the distribution of langar/sanitation services /logistics services etc at various locations who are working as front line corona warriors, not considering their own health risks and have been attending to Coronavirus disaster management duties with various Govt Agencies during last Two months
He said that though different governments departments /ministries have come forward to help govt employees who are working as front warriors by ensuring life insurance cover for them no Govt agency has bothered about such persons working in charitable /social institutions working in Non-Govt charitable institutions like Gurdwaras who are also front line warriors and are serving langar/ sanitation services/support to the general masses and also providing essential services to all the medical staff which has been provided with stay arrangements at different Sarais (Inns) of the Gurdwaras run by DSGMC keeping in view their difficulties. He said that in such a situation the DSGMC has decided to itself provide this life insurance cover to all these front warriors.
Mr Sirsa said that the DSGMC feels it is our duty to provide life insurance cover to all these employees and it will be a befitting way to say thank you to them for their service done during the pandemic period of COVID-19.
Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) is on the forefront to fight COVID 19 and already providing food packets to around one lakh standard migrant workers and other needy persons from its Gurdwaras located at various places in the national capital said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today.
The Delhi Police team led by Central DCP Eish Singhal undertook ‘parikrama' of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib on April 27/,2020 to express gratitude to DSGMC for their commitment and support to Delhi Police in battling the coronavirus pandemic.
DSGMC has been providing cooked meals for over one lakh standard migrant and other needy people on a daily basis through its various gurdwaras located in the national capital since the nationwide lockdown was announced on March 25, 2020
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Delhi Police for its gesture towards the Sikh community as they paid obeisance at the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib as a mark of respect for the gurudwara providing meals to the needy during the nationwide lockdown.
"Good gesture by the Delhi Police. Our Gurudwaras have been doing exceptional work in serving people. Their compassion is appreciable," Prime Minister Modi said in a tweet on April 27, 2020
