New Delhi May 10, 2020: The World Punjabi Organization (WPO) has donated Rs 51 lakhs to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee to support its charitable activities being undertaken during the COVID19 crisis for the service of mankind and humanity said Vikramjit Singh Sahney, International President of WPO ,.
He said that out of the total amount of Rs 51 lakhs, an amount of Rs 40 lakhs has been provided for meeting expenses relating to expenses of the religious preachers like Granthis, Ragis, and administrative staff as Gurdwaras are lockdown and there is no offerings in Gurdwaras since March while Rs 11 lakhs has been donated for ration/Vegetables and eatable items for use in the Gurdwara Langars(community kitchens ) who are providing daily free food to needy persons in National Capital . .
Earlier Vikramjit Sahney had distributed 10, 000 Ration Kits for needy and deprived classes in various parts of the national capital to meet the ration needs of the migrant laboures and marginal sections of society .
Vikramjit Singh Sahney, International President of WPO who is philanthropists himself has contributed Rs 22 lakhs, while Taranjit Singh, President WPO Calcutta, and Chairman JIM University donated Rs 21 lakhs and MS Kohli, President WPO Montreal Canada donated Rs 7.5 lacs.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Manjinder Singh Sirsa thanked Vikramjit Sahney and other WPO donors for their generous contribution in a time when Gurdwaras are facing a resource crunch due to lockdown.
