Police VPOs, Bank BCs disburse pensions in mere six days
Old Age, Widows, Handicapped and Orphans get pension of April month
All pensioners of city/town and rural areas of District are covered under this campaign.
Mansa May 17, 2020 : The campaign to disburse pensions via Police VPOs and Banks Business Correspondents commenced by the Mansa Police proved successful as it took just six days to disburse pension of April month (received on 8th May in the Banks) to all the beneficiaries at their doorsteps in villages and wards.
The pensions for the month of April, 2020, which reached on 8th May in the Banks, have been disbursed to over 90,800 pensioners including old-age, widows, handicapped and orphan beneficiaries within six days by the VPOs with the help of BCs.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mansa Dr Narinder Bhargav said that keeping in view the prevailing curfew and other difficulties being faced by the pensioners including non-availability of public transport, crowd and long lines in front of banks amid scorching heat and morbidity, the Mansa Police had decided to disburse pensions to these beneficiaries through the Police VPOs and Bank BCs in their respective villages/wards.
He said that the VPOs and Bank BCs started disbursing pending pensions on April 20, 2020 and managed to cover majority of pensioners till April 30. "This venture of Mansa Police was appreciated by the pensioners, so it was decided that the pension for the month of April, 2020 will also be disbursed through the VPOs and Bank BCs keeping the view the large public interest," he said.
Dr. Bhargav said consequently, 326 VPOs with the help of Bank BCs, prepared the data of all the pensioners and started disbursing pension of Month April 2020, which was reached on 8th May in the Banks, on May 11 and managed to disburse all the pensions in a record time of just six days.
He said that VPOs and Banks BCs have covered as many as 90,804 total pensioners including 16,103 widow pensioners, 9,121 Handicapped pensioners, 61,658 Old age pensioners and 3,922 Orphan pensioners. He said that of total 90,804 pensioners, 15,892 pensioners were belonged to urban areas while, 74,912 pensioners were residing in rural areas.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bhargav said that this task was completed by May 16. SSP Mansa said that this was really a laborious task and it is commendable that the disbursing staff has completed this task in a record time. SSP Mansa said that keeping in view the strenuous work done by the Police VPOs and Bank BCs,the District Police honoured them with the letters of appreciation alongwith District Lead Bank Manager, Mansa.
