Nawanshahr, May 18, 2020: The School Education Department, with a view to make up for the interruption in classroom teaching due to lock down , in wake of unprecedented pandemic COVID-19, has roped in DD Punjabi to reach out to maximum number of students.
From tomorrow, the DD Punjabi Channel comprising operators ,which included, Free Dish, Airtel Dish, Videocon d2h, Tata Sky,, Fastway Cable, Dish TV, Sun Direct, Reliance Big TV , will start classes for the students of classes 3rd to 5th and 9th to 10th. With this facility, as many as 1051152 students of classes 3rd to 5th and 668720 students of classes 9th and 10th belonging to all schools be it government, govt. aided, private, affiliated , would get the education facility. The telecast time for clas 9th will be from 9 am to 11.15, for class 10th from 11.15 to 1.45 and for primary classes ( 3rd to 5th) from 1.45 to 2.45. The schedule for the lessons to be delivered has been released.
It is worthwhile to mention here that , earlier the students of classes 7th and 8th have been availing of this facility at DD Free Dish, Dish TV and Swayam Prabha 20 on Jio TV App since April 20. There are total strength of students in class 7th is 356484 and in class 8th is 346021.
Besides, the Education Department has also been taking virtual classes through different digital as well as social media tools including Whats App, Youtube, Radio, E-books to the students from pre-primary to 12th. Hence, about 42.81 lakh students in Punjab have been availing the facility of virtual classes under " Ghar Baithe Shikhiya" programme launched for the welfare of the students during the Lock Down.
