Fatehgarh Sahib. May.20, 2020: The residents of the Fatehgarh Constituency today honoured their fire brand MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra, who is popularly known as MLA with difference not only among the residents of his constituency but also among the people of the State at large for his nomination as Chairman Business advisory Committee of Punjab Vidhan Sabha. He is highly respected even by the Bureaucracy, which is in the eye of storm due to conflict with politicians these days for his honesty, dedication, state forwardness, development mindedness and clean image. Even his critics and opponents don’t have concrete proof to allege any discrepancy and corrupt practices on his part and they criticise him for the sake of criticism.
Recognising his ability and capability, he has been nominated by the Assembly speaker as chairman of Business Advisory Committee having Bikram Singh Majithia senior SAD(B) leader and Aman Arora Senior AAP Leader as its members is one of the most powerful committee of the Assembly, which looks after all the activities of the government. The residents of the area hoped that he will further accelerate the process of development in his constituency and the people will benefit from his strong position. Earlier he was widely honoured when CM recognised his loyality to party and leadership qualities and nominated him as his Advisor.
MLA Nagra has earned the reputation of a leader indulging in politics of development rather of discrimination, political vendetta and of corrupt practices as allegedly most of the politicians are indulging these days earning bad name not only to government but to party also. He always remain alert on the development works, law and order situation, to control the illicit trade of drugs, Liquor and others and holds regular meetings with the district officials in this regard.
Even during the COVID-19 threat he used to visit villages and towns at his own to ensure that the community kitchens, distribution of ration, supply of essential services to residents and the honouring of front line COVID warriors like Health workers, police, sanitation staff and other involved serving the humanity during pandemic. He has not only donated his one month salary for the CM Corona relief fund, but he has also become a source of inspiration for the councillors of Municipal Council Sirhind Fatehgarh Sahib, who followed him and announced to donate one month salary.
He has initiated the development works more than 400 Crore in his constituency and even during the lock down period Fatehgarh Sahib was the only constituency, where the development works had started. As promised during election that people specially senior citizens don’t have to make rounds of Govt. offices for redressal of their grievances rather the officers will visit their villages to redress grievances have been fulfilled. He has organized more than 50 Public durbars in which the officers of different departments on a fixed day go to the villages and redress their grievances on spot. All verifications and reports are done on the spot by Patwaris, Tehsildars and concerned officers and cases are cleared.
The residents of the area are delighted as they feel that Fatehgarh Sahib Constituency got one MLA free with one elected ( Ek nal ek free scheme) for serving the constituency. Kuljeet Nagra has been elected MLA but his wife Mandeep Kaur Nagra is more active, she holds public darbars listens to the grievances of public and has set up her own office having few employees, where all grievances of people are recorded and then forwarded to officials for redressal. She also handles the day to day affairs and attends all the social functions. Hundreds of people visit her office daily, she knows everyone by name. Kuljeet Nagra remains busy in Chandigarh and Delhi to get projects for constituency.
Due to his efforts amid pandemic there was no complain from any quarter, where no complaint of non availability of essential commodity is received rather NGOs and poorest among the poor are appreciating the efforts of district administration and spirit of MLA.
