Cabinet minister Vijay Inder Singla addresses queries of students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders through Facebook live
Chandigarh, May 20, 2020 : Punjab education minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Wednesday, held a live Facebook interaction with students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders where he got unprecedented response and overwhelming number of questions. While interacting, Mr. Singla tried to address all the comments, questions and issued raised by the people during the live interaction. The cabinet minister also apprised them about the decisions taken by the Punjab Government to cope up with the loss of students due to spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
"We are also monitoring the nature of online classes and soon an advisory will be issued in this regard to maintain the standard of these classes," the education minister said. He added that the schools could only charge tuition fee from the exact date when they have started taking classes.
The cabinet minister said that in view of internet related problems, the education department has also decided to start broadcast of curriculum on TV, DD Punjabi for the students of classes III to V and IX and X.
Mr. Vijay Inder Singla ensured that strict action will be ensured against the schools who found flouting government directions repeatedly. He said that DEOs have been directed to enforce all the directions of Punjab government in their respective jurisdiction and shared their contact details of nodal officers where people could lodge complaints against the violations. He also shared his email vijayindersingla@gmail.com and asked students, parents and other people to file complaints pertaining to school education issues, if not being resolved by the nodal officers. He assured that every complaint received of the parents by him or by the nodal will be resolved.
For the issue of school transporters, Mr. Singla said that the issue will be taken up with the Chief Minister and suitable relief will be given to them accordingly.
The cabinet minister told that the schools which are taking online classes have been permitted to charge only tuition fee for the curfew/lockdown period. He added that no other charges including admission fees, uniform or any other charges in any form could be charged from the students. He added that all the schools have been directed not to change uniform for atleast two years and the managements should not force any student to buy uniform, books or other items from a particular shop within or outside school premises.
