Fatehgarh Sahib, May.25, 2020: Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib came up with two webinars on the burning issues of ‘Post COVID-19: Challenges & Opportunities for Indian Economy’ and ‘How to live with Corona?’, respectively, organized by Department of Commerce and Management and Department of physiotherapy. Both the events were also live on facebook, youtube and many e-platforms had around 1500 participants across the globe, joined live to listen to the seasoned academicians and doctors. Number of queries was addressed by the panellists of the respective webinars and participants even suggested to plan the sequels to look for the strategies to face the current disaster as well as future threats, effectively. During his presidential addresses Vice Chancellor Dr. Prit Pal Singh emphasized that staying positive along with follow up of the related Government advisories will enhance our collective strength to fight the COVID-19 threat. He said that the take home message from the events is that we need to gradually prepare ourselves for returning to this new normal with adequate protection for the vulnerable, precautions of distancing and hygiene, and gave thrust upon finding sustainable solutions to fight the aftermath of coronavirus pandemic. He appreciated the technical team members Dr Shruti Aggarwal and Mr. Rajvir Dhanjal for successful organization of these webinars.
One of the events on Indian Economy featured three prominent speakers and the session was co-ordinated by Dr. Rubeena Bajwa. Dr. R.K. Sharma, Dean Research and Head of the Department in his Welcome address introduced all the speakers and enlightened about the significance of the theme. Dr. H.L Verma, Vice-Chancellor, Jagannath University, Bahadurgarh, Haryana, highlighted the strengths of India and how our country can unleash those qualities so that no wrong can happen in the future and emphasized that organized and unorganized sectors must be uplifted together for the upliftment of economy. Dr. A.S. Chawla, Vice-Chancellor RIMT University Mandi Gobindgarh, threw a spotlight on rural India and presented an alarming data depicting how Indian can suffer negative growth in near future but addressing the issues of agriculture, social divide and more philanthropist activities can actually shape better future. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Professor, UIAMS, Panjab University, Chandigarh, who focused on finding about the current challenges of economy and coordinated the discussion. The webinar was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Lalit Singla, Organizing Secretary.
Another webinar moderated by Dr. Supreet Bindra was focused on a highly relevant topic “How to live with Corona” especially when Government has declared that we have to live with the virus, urging people to make COVID 19 prevention guidelines a part of their lives as a behavioural change amid easing of lockdown restrictions. Dr Varinder Garg, OSD to president, PGIMER, Chandigarh talked about the “Global Vs. Indian Scenario of COVID 19” where he revealed that as compared to other countries the disease is not that severe in India and a number of people have recovered and this disease has converted us in to a mature nation therefore we should not create panic. Dr Sanjay Bhadada, Professor in Endocrinology talked on “Myths and Clinical Facts about COVID 19” and updated the participants with symptoms of covid in detail and demystified the common myths related to alcohol, food, sanitization, use of masks, self-medication, high risk patients related to covid. He also discussed the role of immune-boosters, exercise and people who are vulnerable to catch the disease.
