Fatehgarh Sahib. May.26, 2020: The State Government is not only sending the migrants back to their native States but has also made elaborate arrangements for the safe return of Punjabis stuck in other States, said Jaspreet Singh Assistant Commissioner (G) after receiving 527 Punjabis belonging to various districts of the State and Chandigarh, who were struck in Tamil Nadu during lock down as they reached Sirhind Railway Station through a special train today.
They were medically checked up by the health department teams as per protocol and social distancing was ensured. After check-up they were handed over to the nodal officers of various districts and were sent to their destination through special buses.
While talking to media persons they highly appreciated the efforts of the State government to bring them back and the district administration for making comfortable arrangements for their safe journey to native places. They were full of praise for Capt. Amarinder Singh Chief Minister as their return could be possible only after the intervention of CM as they uploaded messages and videos on his face-book page and CM further deputed officers to bring them back.
Harpal Singh SP (investigation), Jaswinder Singh Tiwana DSP(D), Raminder Singh Kahlon DSP Fatehgarh Sahib and Arjun Grewal Naib Tehsildar Fatehgarh Sahib were also present to receive them.
