Kisan Morcha BJP submits memorandum demanding probe into ‘seed scam’
Ferozepur, May 29, 2020: As a part of its statewide campaign against the alleged multi-crore seed scam, today Kissan Morcha Bhartiya Janata Party, Ferozepur submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner in the name of Governor Punjab seeking CBI probe.
Despite, both SAD leaders and BJP – though having alliance in Punjab – have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner separately.
While a deputation of BJP leaders, under the banner of Kissan Morcha Bhartiya Janta Party, Ferozepur led by Gurjit Singh Arifke, District President, Kissan Morcha, D.B.Chandan and other, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, in the Governor, Punjab, for probe in to the alleged seed scam. Earlier, on Thursday, SAD leaders – Nony Mann, Avtar Singh Minna, Joginder Singh Jindu former MLA – also met the DC and handed over representation demanding probe in supplying spurious paddy seed - PR 127 and PR 128- which were never authorised for sale.
Speaking on the occasion, Gurjit Singh Arifke said, it is very unfortunate that despite surfacing of seed scam 15 days back, no action has so far been taken by the government in this regard, adding that the government is giving them time to prepare false records.
Bikramjit Singh Majithia former Minister had already rejected a vigilance inquiry into the scam as it has no credibility and demanded proble through central agency or judge of the HC or SC.
In fact the issue had come to light when farmers alleged that the PAU was selling the seed varities at Rs.70 per kg, but a shop located opposite the PAU Gate No.1 was reportedly selling these for Rs.200-250 per kg.
