31,323 students in 5th, 8th and 10th classes declared passed in gradation
Punjab Board results with gradation changing passing criteria bring cheer on students faces
Ferozepur, May 31, 2020: The announcement of results of 5th, 8th and 10th classes by Punjab Board taking the basis of CCE marks, to pass all the students by changing the passing criteria for Punjab Board Exam 2020, brought cheer on the faces of students.
As many as 31,323 students of Punjab Board of 10th, 8th and 5th classes’ in Ferozepur, have been declared passed in gradation as per the decision taken on the recommendations of the Committee constituted for the purpose in the wake of lockdown due to coronavirus threat.
The students of 5th class could appear for only three subjects – EVS, Punjabi and English and Hindi and English exams could not be conducted. Students of 8th class appeared in exams of all the subjects but could not be checked for preparing the results. Similarly, the students of 10th class could appear only in one subject of Punjabi.
As a precautionary measure in the wake of the Coronavirus threat, the Centre and State governments have to take various decisions which including to continue to close down of educational institutions.
Taking no exams and declaring the results by the Punjab School Education Board taking into account the marks bases of ‘Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation’- CCE, was one of the major decisions, in the history of the education department so far.
In Ferozepur, 31,323 students were to appear in exams – 7,965 students of 5th class, 11,101 of 8th and 12,257 students of 10th class, who have been declared as passed on the new formula of gradation adopted, keeping the base of pre-Board exam results by the Punjab Board. The grades have been given as A+ for 91 to 100 marks, Grade A between 81-90, Grade B-1 for 71-80, Grade B 71-70, Grade C+ 51-60, Grade C 41-50 and Grade D 1-40.
However, the students who had to appear as Open student for 10th class, additional subjects and for improving the numbers has to appear in the exams, without any extra fee. Apart from this, there will be no rechecking and revaluation of papers and no merit list.
However, the toppers who feel pleasure to find their names in the merit lists were feeling discouraged with the decision taken in the wake of coronavirus threat in the country.
Meanwhile, after reviewing the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Punjab, the date-sheet of Class 12 examinations will also be released and the education department will ensure a safe environment while conducting examinations in view of the pandemic.
