Special Registration desks set up for stranded labourers
S. A. S. Nagar, June 02, 2020: The real Fateh of Mission Fateh lies in countering COVID-19 coupled with providing succor to those who are distressed due to the outbreak of pandemic.
In line with the inherent aim of the Mission, Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar, Girish Dayalan has directed all the Sub Divisional Magistrates in the district to set up special help desk-cum registration camps for the stranded migrants, in their respective areas of jurisdiction. He said that relocation of all migrant workers desirous of going back to ancestral districts through special Shramik Trains should be facilitated.
The camps would be organized from 10AM to 5PM on Wednesday, June 3 simultaneously at Radhaswami Beas Satsang Bhawan, Adjacent D Mart, Zirakpur , Sports Complex, Sector 78, Near Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana and Radhaswami Satsang Beas, Nijjer Chowk, Kharar. One member per family/group can reach the camp and register for his group.
Pertinently, about 27,000 laborers from the district have already been sent to their home states by 24 special Shramik Trains and quite a lot of registered people declined to go back; so much so that those who have gone back are reportedly contacting their contractors/employers to arrange for their coming back to work. Despite so, still if any migrant laborer feels the need to go back, district administration will facilitate his journey, said Dayalan.
Information dissemination from all formal and non-formal channels is being done like sending news briefs, SMSes, audio messages, announcements from gurudwaras, munadi, word of mouth through GoGs and volunteers as well as through groups of migrant workers who have decided to stay back.
