Ferozepur 5 June 2020: The Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh was committed to uplift the health standards of the people, under which a lot of efforts were being made and in this context, several steps are being taken to promote natural agriculture, these views were expressed by the Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Kulwant Singh after visiting the Sohangarh Natural Farm at village Rattewala on Friday.
He lauded Kamaljit Hayer, a 20-acre farmer who was doing natural farming here and said that other farmers should also take inspiration from him and adopt crop diversification and natural farming.
DC said that Kamaljit Hayer is a progressive farmer who has been working on a new model of agriculture for the last 7 years. He is doing natural farming without any chemicals or medicines. He cultivates 20 acres of land every year and grows 60 different crops. They have over 120 varieties of trees and 25 varieties of fruit available. This is a great achievement in itself. "While the coronavirus has forced us to rethink our health these days, such farming is a matter of time as our food helps in raising the health standards of the people," he said adding If our diet is right, we will become stronger on the inside.
Farmer Kamaljit Hayer thanked the DC for this encouragement and said that by training other farmers on this model he was encouraging them for subsistence farming. He said that this agriculture was not only beneficial for the health of the people but also economically beneficial for the farmers. He said that he has left an advocate profession and entered this business and has been working on this model for many years.
