36th Anniversary of Operation Blue Star passes off peacefully amid protests and slogan shouting by radicals
Amrisar, June 6, 2020 : 36th Anniversary of Operation Blue Star passed off peacefully today amid protests and slogan shouting by radicals against Police and SGPC in Darbar Sahib Complex today.
Different groups of radicals gathered in Darbar Sahib complex today but several of them were prevented from reaching Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Among the one group led by Iman Singh Mann son of Simranjit Singh Mann, another of United Akali Dal led by Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, Amandeep Singh Khalsa and others had gathered to observe the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. These groups were prevented by police from reaching Sri Akal Takht Sahib. They started protesting and slogan-shouting against Police and the SGPC for stopping them for performing Ardaas at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on the occasion of the anniversary of Operation Blue Star.
Protesters alleged that Punjab Government was acting as per wish of the Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal as Sukhbir and Capt. Amardiner Singh were hand in glove. They said that police force is being used in Gurudwara Sahib complex to toss turbans of Sikhs and humiliate them. They also alleged that Akali leadership had protected Dera Sirsa head and was involved in sacrilege cases of Guru Granth Sahib.
Devotees present in pandals erected before Sri Akal Takht Sahib were seen practicing Social distancing. This time rush of pilgrims was very less due to heavy rains pouring since moring and Corona Virus scare. Police allowed leadership inside complex but stopped massive gatherings.
Heavy police including commandos was deputed in and around Darbar Sahib complex
