Twitter briefly blocks Amul’s account, Twitter MD clarifies
New Delhi, June 7, 2020 : Social microblogging site ‘Twitter’ had briefly blocked dairy giant Amul’s Twitter account @Amul_Coop on Friday. It was reported in a section of media that this was done due to an offensive advertisement ‘Exit the Dragon’ which allegedly supports boycotting of Chinese products and promotes Made in India products.
In a tweet some hours ago, Amul MD RS Sodhi informed that he had received a call from Manish Maheshwari MD Twitter India who has clarified that the account was blocked due to technical reasons and not in relation to the content published. But a good number of people reacting sharply on the clarification suggested to Sodhi that they should not accept the version of the Twitter management as they belive that the handle was blocked due to advt containing picture of dragon.
