Jalandhar, June 21, 2020: Tightening the noose around people who were violating the norms of social distancing in the district, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has so far issued fine worth Rs 1.80 lakh to 90 people for violating the norms of Social distancing.
Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the Police have so far issued 9177 without mask challans and collected a fine worth Rs 39.34 lakh from the violators. He said that a fine worth Rs 65,000 has been imposed so far for 37 violations of home quarantine instructions adding that 284 persons have been fined Rs 31,600 for spitting in a public place. Bhullar said that a total of 35852 challans have been issued so far to the traffic violators and 2004 vehicles have been impounded.
The Commissioner of Police further said that fine worth Rs 81000 has been imposed on overloaded 45 four-wheelers, Rs 11500 on overloaded 23 Autos and a fine worth Rs 1,80,000 has been imposed on 90 for violating social distancing norms.
Bhullar said that today, 187 traffic challans were issued by commissioner police adding that today 122 persons without mask were challenged and a fine worth Rs 61000 was imposed on them. He said that today six-person found flouting the social distancing norms were challaned.
Bhullar said that this drive would continue in the coming days and action would be taken against the violators adding that the people have to play a vanguard a role for further checking the spread of COVID 19. He said that it was the social responsibility of the residents to ensure the following the directives of the government to combat the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
