Fatehgarh Sahib, July 02, 2020: Sunder Sham Arora Minister for Industry, while interacting with industrialist of Mandi Gobindgarh, Sirhind and Bassi Pathana at Mandi Gobindgarh town today said that though the Electricity Regulatory Commission has imposed fixed charges of electricity on the industry of the lock down period, but the State Government will waive the fixed charges.
He said that the Rs.20 Lakh crore package announced by the Union government for industry is a joke, as it encourages industry to take loans from banks, whereas industrialists are already availing the facility of bank limits and it will further put them in debt trap, how it can be beneficial rather Union government should waive six months interests of banks of the industry.
He said that there are 2.55 Lakh industrial units in the State and out of these 2.32 Lakh units have been made operational and they have written to UP, Bihar and other States that if they want to send labour back to Punjab, the State government will arrange for transportation to bring them, so that industry may not face labour problem.
He said that State government is committed to provide electricity at Rs.5 Per unit to the industry as promised and if any industry is getting it at more than Rs.5 per unit, they should brought it to the notice of the government and it be resolved. He assured to resolve all the problems related to GST, PNG Gas, and Pollution in a joint meeting of the industrialists and higher officials of various departments to be called with in a week in Chandigarh. He directed all the Deputy Commissioners not to close the industry even during lock down and to call the representatives of industry once a month to redress their grievances.
He said that the focal points in the State are being upgraded. He announced a focal point at Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib for small scale industry.
He announced Rs.2 Crore to the Steel Chamber of Commerce and Industry to construct their own building.
Earlier Kaka Randeep Singh MLA Amloh highlighted the various problems being faced by the industrialists of Asia’s biggest steel town Mandi Gobindgarh and demanded to provide electricity to all small and big industry at Rs.5 per unit as promised.
Amrit Kaur Gill DC, Harinder Singh Bhambhri Chairman District Planning Board, Vinod Vashisht President All India Steel Re-roller’s Association, Mohinder Gupta President Induction Furnace Association, Dinesh Gupta President Patiala Chamber of Commerce also highlighted the problems being faced by the industry.
