Education Department's unique initiative to inculcate leadership qualities

Chandigarh, July 06, 2020: As many as 95 newly recruited school heads belonging to different districts , who have participated in the 5 day virtual training workshop, have hailed the initiative of the Education Department of imparting training by holding virtual workshops for 989 school heads including 317 under RMSA in different batches.
It is worthwhile to mention here that, the Punjab Education Department has roped in one of the topmost business schools of the country ‘Indian School of Business (ISB) ‘ to impart professional training at par with international standards to the newly recruited school heads. The main objective of the unique training programme is to develop motivational, leadership qualities among them and to shape up their overall personality so that the newly recruited school heads could excel their potentialies to contribute towards qualitative improvement in education .
The first batch of the training was organised from June 29 to July 03. . The school heads are quite elated as they have been finding themselves higly geared up to face the challenge of beating the best for restoring the glory of the government schools.
Lovedeep Singh, Headmaster, Government High School, Sihan Daud in Ludhiana district, while sharing his experiences, told that few years back he had joined an institute in Chandigarh for attending coaching classes as he was to appear for Staff Selection Board Examination. He had to pay a sum of Rs.50,000 for the voaching classes.
" But,the virtual classes by the ISB experts under the aegis of the Education Department are far better than the coaching classes ", he said while terming his experience as well as standard of the training as amazing.
Poonam, Headmistress, Govt. High School, Budha Theh ( Amritsar), Deepika, Headmistress, Chhauni Mohalla, Ludhiana and Sunita, Headmistress, Govt. High School, Takarala( Nawanshahr) , while terming the training fabulous and an amazing life time experience, said that they had been finding themselves equipped with highly professional managerial and leadership qualities.
" In the present crisis due to pandemic , when the schools are closed, it is very important to keep the students updated with their subjects as well as their personality development activities through virtual classes. With a view to braving such a challenging circumstances, the school heads have to devise innovative techniques and handle the situation comprehensively with professional approach", they further said while adding that they had been feeling themselves commanding and resourceful so as to bring a qualitative change in the education standard as well as shaping up the future of their students.
Besides, the ISB experts gave them valuable tips for mobilising community participation for infrastructural development, communication skills, personality development, emotional intelligence qoutient , leadership skills for mobilising staff to work cohesively , stress management, to assess personality traits for ensuring optimum as well as judicious utilisation of available human resources etc, said Sunita.
The experts including Dr. Aarushi Jain, Prof. Chandrashekhar Sripada, Dr. M.Kanchan ( ISB) Rajeshwar Upadhayay( Director Par Excellence) , Dr. Gulshan Sharma ( Director General, ICSI) Dr. Sarada, Chandrasekaran ( Academic Director and Head Whitefield Global School, Banglore), Prof.Doreswamy Nandkishore, Shweta Rajput, Amita Chakraborty, Isha Mahajan, Pranav Garimala, Radhika Rao, delivered lectures on different topics including " Introduction about using On line Portal and Training ", " Challenges and Opportunities", " Management Principles and their applicability to school level management", "Johari Activity - Trust and Support", " Theories of Motivation, intrinsic, motivation etc", "Practical Orientation" , "Group behaviour, team formation and development, Group Activity", " Pedagogy", " Transformational Leadership", "Moving Out of Status Quo" , " Body Language and Communication", " Group Presentations". The experts would give valuable tips to the school heads for managing different academic as well as conducive curricular activities to ensure all round personality development of the students.
