District Yoga Association honours participants of online yoga competition
Ferozepur, July 7, 2020: Online Yoga competition was conducted by District Yoga Association and the winners were honoured at a special ceremony held recently by Rai Bahadur Vishnu Bhagwan Hall of the local Das & Brown World School.
In this program, Zira SDM Ranjit Singh reached out to give his blessings, especially to the young participants.
On this occasion, SDM Ranjit Singh said that in this day when the entire human race is struggling with Covid crisis, yoga is the only ray of hope by which this epidemic can be avoided. He gave the message to the youth to stay away from intoxicants and to do yoga regularly and stay healthy.
Dr. Gurnam Singh Farmah General Secretary and Vice President Vishwa Bandhu said that in order to increase the interest of students and youth in yoga, an online yoga competition was organized on behalf of District Yoga Association Ferozepur under the leadership of President, Anirudh Gupta.
He said that the competition was divided into 6 categories with separate category for children below 8 years of age, 8 to 10 years in sub junior category and 10 to 12 year old contestants, 12 to 14 years in junior category. More than 1500 participants from 14 to 16 years and 16 to 18 years participated and videos were submitted by about 400 participants in this competition. He said that the best ten participants in each category were awarded by the District Yoga Association.
On this occasion, the head of the District Yoga Association, Anirudh Gupta, encouraged the young participants and assured that the organization would organize similar programs in the future as well.
He said that through yoga not only we can make our life healthier but also help the players who will be proficient in yoga in the future to get a government job and get admission to good colleges.
District Sports Officer Sunil Kumar Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Shakti Chopra, Ashok Kumar, Ishwar Sharma, Kamaljit Singh, Sarita, Kulwant Singh, Manoj Arya, Desh Tulli, Deepak Saluja, Manmohan Shastri, Amarjit Kaur and others were present on the occasion.
The participants honoured on this occasion were –8 to 10 age group - Ishika (first), Yash and Rudrakshi (second), Madhav and Saurabh (third), Age group 10 to 12 - Riya (1st), Niharika (2nd), Divyanshi (3rd), Age group 12 to 14 - Pradeep Kaur (1st), Gurshan Singh (2nd), Tulsi (3rd), Age group 14 to 16 - Sonali (1st), Harshita (2nd), Seema (3rd), Age group 16 to 18 - Sunita (1st), Navsangit Kaur (2nd), Aditya Thakur (3rd).
