Railway constructs 600m long concrete track with new technology in 108 hrs
Ferozepur, July 9, 2020: In Unlockdown-2, the track of Platform No. 2 of Ludhiana Railway Station was reinforced by the Engineering Department of Ferozepur Division with a new technology. The track was reinforced with a length of 600 m in 108 hours and the track with 45 m long wooden sleeper was converted into a concrete track. |
Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agarwal informed that with this technology, plans are being made to strengthen and renovate the concrete track platforms of all other stations of the division.
DRM said, the Assistant Engineer, Ludhiana and all the railway workers of their sub-divisions made commendable contribution in this work which was done during the scorching heat which was extremely difficult.
About 300 concrete sleepers were filled with uncompressed-flow material. The technique of using this state-of-the-art material was published by the Civil Institute of Indian Railways, Pune in June, 2015 and was presented by the present Anurag Kumar, Senior Divisional Engineer.
SDE said, about 120 old sleepers were replaced with new sleepers and the rails of the entire track were upgraded and welded. This technology achieved the achievement of creating ballastless tracks in about one-third of the time currently sponsored technology.
This work was done in Unlockdown-2 without affecting the operation of the trains and following the protocol of Covid-19 which was not possible in normal time without affecting the operation of the train. This will now increase the speed of trains at the station and also ensure their safety, he added.
