Recovery of mobile from inmates exposes jail security chinks
Ferozepur, July 11, 2020: During the search operation, one mobile with battery and SIM Card has been recovered from under trial prisoner, posing a threat to the security arrangements of high-profile Central Jail.
Recently, 8 mobiles wrapped in a red color bag thrown from outside the jail premises by unidentified persons were recovered. The several residential and commercial establishments coming up in the vicinity pose a threat to the security arrangements of Central Jail which houses notorious criminals also. The security checks are at high risk and the purpose of keeping the inmates in jails from worldly affairs as a punishment is lost.
Jail authorities have failed to plug the entry points resulting in the frequent recovery of mobiles from the inmates and the purpose to keep the criminals away from the social affairs, as a punishment is also lost. An in-depth probe is needed on the recovery of mobiles about its use and also to keep a cat-eye with the contacted persons. Mobile is one of the most wanted banned items inside the jail, especially by the criminals to remain in touch with their counterparts and rivals to make threat calls.
Meanwhile, a case under Section 52-A of Prisons Act, on the complaint of Jarnail Singh, Assistant Superintendent, has been registered against, Gobinda of Ferozepur – a prisoner under trial at Central Jail Ferozepur. The mobile, battery and SIM card were recovered from him during the search operation on the night of 9-10 July, 2020. Dalip Kumar has been appointed as IO to investigate into the case.
