Solar Project will save Rs.2.25 lakh per month on electricity bills
MLA Pinki hands over Rs.25 lakh grant cheque to College management for Solar Project
Ferozepur, 13 July, 2020: Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA, Ferozepur Urban, on Monday, handed over a check of Rs. 25 lakh to the local management of Dev Samaj College for Women.
MLA Pinki said the installation of Sola project in the college campus would be a milestone in the direction of making the college self reliant in terms of power generation, besides saving the college an electricity bill of Rs. 2 lakh.
The MLA said that the electricity bill of this college was high for which a grant of Rs. 25 lakh has been given to the college by the state government for installation of solar system. With the implementation of this system, the college would save up to Rs. 2.25 lakh per month in electricity bill. Never before has a solar power project been implemented on such a large scale in any college.
Recalling the history of the college, he said, this girls’ college is almost one hundred years old and before partition, students from Lahore used to come to study in this college and this college is the pride of Ferozepur, which has produced many scholars as at that time there was no other college up to Delhi. Even the students from Jammu and Kashmir also used to come here to study.
He said that many bright students of this college from Ferozepur have made Ferozepur famous nationally and internationally. MLA Pinki said that despite being a border district, many development projects were being brought in Ferozepur city. There are also a number of steps being taken to raise the standard of education. In addition, a number of projects have been launched to provide better health care, education and basic amenities to the people. He said that Ferozepur would soon become one of the major cities of the state.
MLA asked the college Secretary, Mrs.Madhu Prashar, to spend this amount for providing scholarships to the economically weaker and needy students.
Later, Mrs.Madhu Prashar, thanked the MLA for arranging the grant for Solar Project in the College.
