Kacha Arthia Association demands to continue prevailing MSP system and Commission Agents
Submits memorandum in the name of PM through DC Ferozepur
Ferozepur, July 15, 2020: Fearing about the withdrawal of existing minimum support price – MSP, under the newly enacted Ordinances, despite denial by the government, today, representatives of Kachha Arthia Association presented a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur in the name of Prime Minister. Rohit Garg and Sanjay Bansal were also present on this occasion.
Ashok Kumar Garg, President Kachha Arthia Association Ferozepur said, if the MSP is withdrawn, no one will be able to take care of the crop even on 50 percent of the present MSP.
Moreover, the Commission Agents have a huge and important role to play in this whole process as they first provide the services to the farmers and later take care of the government’s procured crop, he added.
He further said, MSP and the services of Commission Agents are the key factors for proper protection of produce and good procurement of goods. If the marketing system is abolished then the farmers will be exploited and they will not get the full value of the crop. Moreover, with the outbreak of Corona, the business has drastically gone down and one can well imagine the plight of various persons involved with this profession, in case the Commission Agents are eliminated from the existing system.
The Commission Agents demand that since MSP is a kind of guarantee when the farmer’s crop is ripe to get its full value, the prevailing MSP and services of Commission Agents should continue so that the farmers get the full value of their crops and there is no hindrance in the procurement of the produce of the farmers.
