SAS Nagar, July 15: After a month-long COVID-19 awareness campaign, District Administration cracks down on the defaulters. Late Tuesday evening, joint teams of civil and police administration made surprise checks in popular markets and issued challans to a hundred people for not wearing masks, informed Girish Dayalan Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar.
In view of rising cases in the district we will go very strict on safety protocol adherence. Daily dozens of teams will check vulnerable spots.
“Officers have been directed not to be lax with violators, as, initially, many were let off with a warning. We have increased presence of enforcement teams and will start prosecuting violators”, said Deputy Commissioner.
“Not only would teams be vigilant in bigger markets but would also keep an eye near residential colonies and parks where people reportedly flout norms,” he said.
The team led by Yaspal Sharma Assistant Commissioner (G) who also holds the charge of SDM Mohali challaned violators at Phase 9 and 10.
He was accompanied by Sukhpinder Kaur, Tehsildar, Gurpreet Singh, Naib Tehsildar and police officials. Fine to the tune of Rs 50000/- were collected from the Covid defaulters.
