No firearms license holder to have more than two firearms: DM
Ferozepur July 15, 2020 : District Magistrate Ferozepur Gurpal Singh Chahal, in view of the amendment of the Arms Act 1959 as per the letter No. 11/38 / 2019-2H2 / 290 dated 24-01-2020 issued by the Home Department of the Punjab Government, has asked all the firearms license holders in the district not to hold more than two firearms. The Act currently permits an Indian to own as many as three firearms.
The District Magistrate said that now the license holders who have more than two firearms on their license should immediately deposit their third firearm at the nearest police station / unit or at an authorized firearms dealer.
DM said that the process of sale / transfer of this third ammunition should be settled by the concerned ammunition holder by December 13, 2020 and he could contact the ammunition license branch of this office for disposal of ammunition. In case of non-deletion of third firearms from before the due date, the action will be taken against the concerned licensee as per the rules.
