Chandigarh, July 16, 2020: Haryana Government has issued guidelines for protection and safety of Persons With Disabilities (Divyangjan) to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been decided that the State Government employees working on regular basis/ contract/ daily wages who are unable to walk having physical disabilities of 50% or above and also those who are blind from both eyes may be allowed to work from home.
Giving information about the same, an official spokesperson said that such employees with disabilities should be allowed to work from home as far as necessary, otherwise they may be exempted to attend office. This period will be treated as duty for all intents and purposes.
The spokesperson said that on May 8, 2020, the State Government had issued guidelines for protection and safety of persons with disabilities to prevent the spread of corona virus, under which persons with severe disabilities working in the State Government offices were exempted from attending offices. While reconsidering the same today, the aforesaid decision has been taken by the State Government.
In this regard, a letter from Chief Secretary Office has been issued to all Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, all Managing Directors/ Chief Administrators of Boards/Corporations, Registrar of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh and Registrar of all Universities. They have been urged to comply with these aforesaid guidelines.
